ARTastic December Challenge

Here is the artwork for this month's ARTastic challenge. It is Vermeer's "The Head of a Girl". I hope you like the painting as I had the opportunity to make a suggestion for this month. I love the simplicity and style of the painting. I thought it would be great inspiration for scrapping layouts with portrait photos. Here is an image of the artwork and my take on the challenge...

This is a photo of our Mickey Moo at the school fete. She had just had her face painted and looked so adorable! I thought that an over the shoulder photo would be perfect for this challenge. There are also added criteria for this month...
1. Single portrait style photo
2. An earring somewhere on the page
If you would like to know more, or be in the running for some wonderful prizes, check out ARTastic! Thanks for stopping by! xxx

ARTastic November Challenge

Check out this month's ARTastic November Challenge... The painting is called "A Greek Woman" painted by the artist Lawrence Alma -Tadema. The painting is so beautiful and delicate and it lends itself really well to a shabby-chic layout with lots of flowers! Here is a picture of the painting and my interpretation below...

"I was inspired by the woman in the painting. She is so graceful and whimsical. I tried to use similar colours to the painting although I have used a brighter combination. This is a photo of our beautiful daughter on the day my husband and I renewed our vows for our tenth anniversary. Thank you to Shelee who suggested I take this photo!"

Happily Ever After

On Friday we celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary. The weather was perfect, lunch was divine and we renewed our vows by saying a few words to each other from the heart. After all of these years, Cameron is still my sweetheart!

I created this layout using some photos from Friday. This layout is part of my DT application for a spot over at Enchanted. One of the challenges was to create a fairytale themed layout. I definitely felt like a princess as I had my hair done and had a new outfit too! I thought these photos would be perfect to scrap! Thanks for stopping by! xxx

I just found out that I won the random draw for the September sketch comp over at A2Z Scraplets... you can check out the blog and more inspiration here. This is the layout that I created based on the sketch. What a lovely way to finish the day. Thanks for stopping by! xxx

A Beautiful Surprise

This Saturday, Cameron and I will be celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary! We are renewing our vows to each other tomorrow and then we'll have a beautiful lunch at a local restaurant. We are really looking forward to spending time with each other and celebrating our family. When we came home from the shops this afternoon, we were surprised by this waiting for us at the front door. These gorgeous flowers are from Michelle and Peter! We cannot thank you enough for your love and thoughtfulness.
This has truly made our day! xxx

Starry Night

Here is my DT layout for ARTastic for October. The artist for the month is Vincent Van Gogh and the artwork is "Starry Night". This is my second layout... the first attempt included lots of swirly paint and it didn't turn out the way I had hoped. I am so happy that I had another go... it looks much better and is more my style. You can find out more about ARTastic's challenge here!

I was inspired by Van Gogh's use of bold bright colours and tried to reflect this by using yellow and different shades of blue. I used white bazzill as a base to act as a canvas and I used flourishes to reflect the swirls and movement in the night sky. Thanks for stopping by! xxx

Taking A Nap

We began the day down at the bay watching Caitlyn on her bike and then taking a long walk along the water. We explored rock pools, watched crabs and just generally enjoyed being near the water. I've had a little time this arvo to finish this layout too... We are making the most of the school holidays and the beautiful weather...
Hope you are having a nice day too! xxx

Bubbles

Here is a layout I completed last night. When I got up this morning I resisted the urge to add more embellishments to the layout and walk away from the table! LOL... All Girl

I wanted to pop in and add another layout I finished this morning. For some reason I scrap early on Saturday mornings when I should be doing housework! This layout is for Enchanted's Chocolate Sunday challenge. I think this photo of Caitlyn is gorgeous... just look at those eyes! I got to use some new bling too. Thanks for stopping by!

Fly

Here is a layout I created last weekend and it turned out rather nicely! It was for Enchanted's Indulgence Competition and we were asked to create a layout about how you enjoy your time out and relax. We were asked to use cream with one other colour on the layout. The photo shows DH and our little one having some fun on the beach. I love to relax on the beach and take photos of our family. The photo is beautiful and I am really happy with the result!

A New Month

I love the beginning of a new month and a new season... so many plans to make! I also love a fresh month because of the new scrapping kits and challenges to be found on the net. I love cyberspace! LOL :)

The new September challenge for ARTastic is up... This month the spotlight is on the artist Wassily Kandinsky and below is the image for our scrappy inspiration...

I have always loved Kandinsky's work and studied his art in High School. I love the clean lines, bright colours and use of white space which I have tried to reflect in my layout. I also included geometric patterned paper, black scallops and a circle embellishment which also came through in this artwork.

Indulgence Competition Week 3

I am so glad that I had a little time to put this layout together. I have just finished it at the kitchen bench with the kiddies crafting along side of me! This layout is for the Indulgence Competition over at Enchanted Scrapbooking. We were challenged to scrap a celebration and include scallops, gold and distressing. I have been wanting to scrap this special photo for so long! I really love the way the flower cluster came together. I have some secret RAK people and Shazza to thank for some of the goodies in this layout!
